Ever dreamt of entering the fashion world? Ever catch yourself getting creative with fabrics? Ever find yourself wanting to design your own head gear? Well, we have the ideal experience for you – a full day millinery masterclass in London! Here at Experience Days we love finding out more about our experiences, so we caught up with Annie who works at the Millinery school to find out more about Katherine and the class.

Hi Annie, thanks for talking to us today! Please could you tell us a little more about the journey that led to ‘Katherine Elizabeth Millinery’?

Hi! Sure, well Katherine Elizabeth previously worked under Stephen Jones creating collections for Dior, runway shows and the John Galliano Boutique in Paris. After working with Catherine Delaney in theatre and film fashion, Katherine set up her own couture millinery house, which has gone from strength to strength.

Not a bad start into the world of fashion! What have been the highlights so far?

Always at the forefront of fashion, Katherine has made bespoke pieces for Lily Allen, Dita Von Teese, Jamelia and Henry Holland, and also recently teamed up with Shingi of The Noisettes to create a small collection after she attended one of our events.

Some big names there – you must face challenges on a daily basis? Is that what keeps it interesting?

It sure does! Each hat develops into a unique piece and that is also what keeps Katherine intrigued every day, working to take ideas in a new direction with each collection.

What has been the biggest or most memorable event you’ve provided?

There have been so many! In 2012, Katherine won the London Lifestyle Award for Best Fashion Retailer, having been publicly voted the winner out of thousands of nominees. Katherine has also appeared on the BBC coverage of Ascot, explaining hat etiquette and the methods of making an Ascot-worthy hat. Another 2012 TV appearance saw Katherine on Alan Titchmarsh’s ITV show about Alice in Wonderland, discussing our Mad Hatter Tea Parties!

Amongst Katherine’s other accolades, she was part of the 2011 Walpole Crafted Scheme for the highest achieving professionals of their respective creative businesses. In addition, Katherine won the Accessories Designer Award by Profile, designing a collection for their Kings Road Store.

Is there any inside information you can give us?

We will save the secrets of the millinery world for our guests! The private tuition is simply the best way of learning millinery techniques which you can use time and time again. Not only is it a fabulous day, but you also leave with an amazing headpiece made specifically for you and by you … it’s a fantastic talking point at parties!

Do you have any exciting plans for the future that you’d like to tell us about?

These experiences have formed the base of our association with The Millinery House Events, a bespoke events company that works with Katherine Elizabeth Millinery and milliners trained by Katherine to provide corporate hospitality and team building events, bridal showers, birthdays and much more. Catering for parties of 10 to well over 60, these events are a breath of fresh air in the corporate world and are a wonderfully sophisticated way to celebrate a special occasion. Perfect for men too, these events get your guests’ creativity shining through and encourage great interaction while you make your own hat, headpiece, fascinator, or trim a trilby, top hat or flat cap! Absolutely no prior experience is required, as the wonderful team of milliners will take you through millinery techniques and help you every step of the way. See more at www.millineryhouseevents.com

We love appearing on TV, so keep your eyes peeled for Ascot coverage and collaborations in London Fashion Week!
