Arts and Crafts Experience Days: Take part in this one-day wood joints workshop where you will by introduced to techniques and skills required to create sturdy and strong joints using hand tools.
Throughout this immersive experience, you will be shown a few types of woodworking joints and their applications, as well as essential hand tools and basic joinery techniques that you will be able to use later in the class. After a brief introduction to woodworking, you will be able to put the information into practice! Start by creating basic joints such as miter joints, butt joints and lap joints. This includes taking important steps like accurate measuring, marking and cutting. After becoming familiar with the basic joints and feeling semi-professional, you can progress onto intermediate joinery techniques! You will work with more complex joints, such as mortise and tenon joints, and dovetail joints. If you need any help getting to grips with things, the friendly staff will be more than happy to assist you. A final step in the wood joints class is to sand down the wood to make it smoother.
