This adults-only walking tour of Edinburgh will send shivers down the spines of all but the bravest ghost-hunters. Venture out after dark, and uncover the gruesome secrets that lie above – and below – the city streets.
The tour departs from the Royal Mile Police Box and takes in some of Edinburgh’s spookiest sites. Your guide will be a fully-costumed figure from the city’s dark past – perhaps the disreputable anatomist, Robert Knox; half-hanged Maggie Dickson; or the ‘Cannibal Earl’, James Douglas! Whoever it is, you’ll find your sinister companion to be a treasure-trove of chilling anecdotes, facts and the odd ghoulish joke. During the 80-minute tour, they’ll lead you through the historic closes and wynds of the Old Town, to Greyfriars Cemetery, and the Edinburgh Vaults. You’ll discover how a place comes to be known as the world’s most haunted graveyard, and gasp at uncensored tales of murder, torture and witches, within dank subterranean chambers. Expect a few scares along the way too – you never know what may be lurking in the shadows!
The Extreme Edinburgh Vaults Paranormal Walking Tour for Two is certainly not for the faint of heart! A voucher would make a unique gift for anyone with a taste for the macabre.
