Hotel Du Vin is the perfect place to enjoy a classy, luxurious afternoon tea experience in Brighton! With both indoor and outdoor seating, relax and forget your troubles whether it be in the sunny open-air, or the cosy yet chic interior.
Bissy, Owen and I walked through the cobblestone entrance and past its traditionally-styled wine bar, and were greeted with a spacious, light blue and brown themed interior. There was Victorian inspired furniture and large, original paintings. The large windows allow natural light to shine through which brightens up the room. Shortly after sitting down, we were greeted by our server who asked for our preferred tea. Hotel Du Vin offers a variety of teas including Gingerbread Chai, Green Tea and of course- a traditional English breakfast tea.
Our server followed up with a 2 tier serving platter filled with delicious sweet and savoury treats, as well as a separate plate for our freshly baked scones. I had noticed the food can be accommodated to both vegetarian and non vegetarian options, as well as other dietary requirements - I had gluten free myself, and found it delicious! All the sweet and savoury items below were gluten free.
The first platter on our tray had the savoury options. This included a variety of finger sandwiches like egg and watercress, smoked salmon with cream cheese, and more. The second platter consisted of our sweet treats, including marmalades, tarts, and the infamous staple in British afternoon tea- the Victoria sponge cake.
Our scones were served separately. They were hot from the oven, and were accompanied by a fresh scoop of clotted cream and sprinkled with powdered white sugar. With a soft, melt in your mouth feel, the sweet and warm scones could be argued as the star of the show.
Lastly, we felt comfortable knowing any concern or special request will be taken care of. Servers would constantly pass by to make sure our afternoon tea experience was at its best.
