If you fancy an evening of pure entertainment and great food, this one’s for you! Read our staff review, and find out about our amazing evening theatre package in London – complete with dinner and a show.

When we arrived at London Victoria, we made our way to the underground for the short journey to Covent Garden. Visiting Covent Garden is great fun as there’s always a lot going on, with engaging street performers and plenty of  shops, markets and restaurants around. For dinner, we decided on Zizzi. We took our seats and eagerly scanned the menu. Before even looking at anything else, I knew I’d be having the chocolate melt for dessert – the typical sweet tooth I am! The menu was really good, and I was very satisfied with both courses. Although we’d left ourselves plenty of time ahead of the show, we still appreciated the speed of service, which allowed us to fully relax during our meal.

Conveniently, the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, was only a few minutes’ walk from the restaurant. We collected our tickets for 42nd Street at the box office, and couldn’t believe our luck when they informed us we’d been upgraded to the royal circle! Although our original seats were really good, an upgrade is always a nice surprise.

As we took our seats and waited for the curtains to open, we could hear the excitement building around the room. When the curtains opened and the audience fell silent, the music began – and from then it was clear everyone was utterly captivated by the entire production. The show was honestly amazing! From the start, the performers were mesmerising. Watching their incredible tap dancing skills and powerful singing had me in absolute astonishment. The cheerful, enthusiastic and passionate cast really added to the entire performance. I still don’t understand how they all kept smiling the entire way through! At the end, it was no surprise the whole audience were on their feet, giving a very well deserved standing ovation.

As we were leaving the theatre, it was lovely to hear people humming along to the show’s songs. I really couldn’t fault anything about the entire evening. It was great to be in London sharing a wonderful evening with a friend, while enjoying a fabulous meal and getting to watch a top class show all as part as one package.
