Experience Days Tours: This full day tour from Edinburgh takes you on a fascinating journey through medieval Kingdom of Northumbria. Sights include Holy island, Lindisfarne Castle, Alnwick Castle and Flodden Field*—plus stunning views from the comfort of your seat!
Tours depart from Edinburgh Castle and follow a circular route through the medieval Kingdom of Northumbria, in North East England. The area is renowned for its breathtaking coastal landscape—not to mention the historic landmarks and religious sites that mark your way. Onboard the luxury air-conditioned coach, your knowledgeable guide will provide a commentary covering the history and culture of the area. Your first stop will be Holy Island, home to Lindisfarne Castle and the priory where the Lindisfarne Gospels were produced. Next, you’ll head to Alnwick, where you can visit ‘The Windsor of the North’ and the grounds which featured in the film Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. In the mid-afternoon, you’ll cross the River Tweed at Coldstream, and if time permits, stop at Flodden Field. Learn all about one of Europe’s best-preserved battlefields and return to Edinburgh with plenty of new stories to tell!
