Here at Xtreme Element we like nothing more than getting outside and enjoying the great outdoors – and doing something extreme, obviously. Winter is here and if you’re anything like us then the thought of these long, cold nights is not a happy one.

But… just dig out those hats and gloves, and there’s still lots of fun to be had outside. Whether you’re into creepy zombie thrills or would rather try your hand learning an enjoyable and rewarding skill like rock climbing, have a look at a few of our seasonal picks…

If you fancy yourself as a bit of an adventurer, why not have a go at the thrilling Discover Gorge Walking Experience in Denbighshire, North Wales? Gorge walking – or Canyoning as it’s also known – involves exploring a gorge by climbing, scrambling, swimming and jumping – or any other means you can think of! This awesome experience will take you deep into the Welsh wilderness where you can channel your inner explorer as you swim under waterfalls, slide down rocks and jump into pools. An unforgettable day out that also works just about every muscle in your body!

For some outdoors fun that’s a little more spine-tingling, what about the Zombie Survival Experience in Worcestershire? This iszombie an exceptional chance to test your nerves as you are pitted against ‘real’ zombies during this adrenaline-pumping experience. To be given a fighting chance against these monsters you’ll undergo thorough training in zombie combat and will be kitted out in full riot gear with weaponry before you go head-to-head with the undead. Keep your wits about you though, as you have to complete two missions – and those not able to deal with the pressure will soon fall!

kite buggyFor something a little less scary but just as exciting, the One Day Intro Kite Buggying Course in Hampshire, Devon or Dorset is just the ticket. Kite Buggying is a hugely thrilling and rewarding activity and it won’t take long before you’re utterly hooked. Combining a three-wheel buggy, a powerful kite (with no brakes…!) and the natural power of the wind, kite buggying involves you being propelled across the ground at seriously fast speeds. Taking place on the beach, this is a brilliant chance to enjoy the extreme buzz of buggying while enjoying some fresh sea air! Totally exhilarating!

Or, if you’ve got a head for heights, why not prove it with the Discover Rock Climbing & Abseiling Combo in East Sussex? This is a double activity that first allows you to experience rockthe rewards of rock climbing before you take a leap of faith right off the abseiling tower. You’ll first enjoy a half day of rock climbing where you’ll be taught by an expert instructor and then, just when you’re getting comfortable, it’s time to move on and up! You’ll head up to the 33ft tower before beginning your abseiling adventure and will have multiple chances to scale down. If you’re feeling really confident, why not up the extreme-ante and do it blindfolded??
