The palace is located outside of London, in East Molesey, and a direct train runs frequently from London Waterloo to Hampton Court. The palace is also easily accessible via bus from Richmond or via Hampton Court train station (5 minute walk away!) and car parking is also available.

Comfortable footwear is recommended for this day out, as there is so much to see and do. My colleague and I visited this beautiful palace with a collection of sites to visit. Included on the long list of things to see is the grand Chapel Royal and its striking design, including a sensational gold and blue painted ceiling. The public is allowed to attend religious services at the chapel, which has been in regular use since the 16th Century, and has been graced by kings and queens throughout history.

Henry VIIIs kitchens are also popular, being the largest kitchens in Tudor England and designed to feed the six hundred members of Henry’s court. You can even witness a huge, open fire with a chef turning a real piece of meat on a conventional spit.

Maps, information leaflets and audio-guides are available and offer an excellent learning experience for visitors of all ages. They are also useful for visitors who wish to spend the day at their own pace.

Dramatic performances and guided tours are also run frequently within the palace for those with specific interests, who need a little guidance, or those who desire to get more involved within a group. Friendly and informative staff are always on-hand to answer any questions you may have.

Food is available on-site in the cafés, which offer a selection of fresh hot and cold food, and souvenirs can be purchased in the gift-shop. Take a break and relax in the magnificent gardens surrounding the palace. The elegant fountains, flower-beds and the palace itself all look even more spectacular on a sunny day. We also visited a world-famous maze which is a fun must-see, and is the oldest remaining hedge maze in the UK.
