Follow an expert guide through the enchanting Old Town, where the streets come alive with captivating narratives.
Kick things off at the National Library of Scotland, where the journey begins along the very street said to have inspired the creation of Diagon Alley. This picturesque path leads straight to the heart of the historic town, where you'll explore Greyfriars Kirkyard and pay homage to Greyfriars Bobby's resting place. This same graveyard served as the muse for J.K. Rowling's iconic Harry Potter characters. Along the way, you'll gain deeper insights into Rowling's life and visit the two cafes where her literary magic unfolded. Then, brace yourself for a 25-35 minute ascent up the extinct volcano, Arthur's Seat, where, weather permitting, you'll be treated to a breath-taking city sunset.
As you gracefully descend from Arthur's Seat, the Royal Mile beckons, and you'll discover the Holyrood Palace grounds, which are synonymous with Scrooge's 'birthplace.' Your final stop awaits – a place where you can savour the legendary deep-fried Mars bar.

Join us on an all-round, interactive, 3 hour Edinburgh walking tour full of dark tales, J K Rowling’s life and a stunning city sunset atop Arthur’s Seat. Let our expert guide lead the way as you embark on a magical journey through the enchanting Old Town which will bring the streets around you to life through fun-filled storytelling.
The tour will start at the National Library of Scotland where we will make our way down the street which is believed to have inspired the creation of Diagon Alley. This street will lead us directly to the heart of the old town where we will enter Greyfriars Kirkyard to see the grave of Greyfriars Bobby, the same graveyard which inspired J K Rowling’s three leading characters in the ever-popular Harry Potter series. While learning more about Rowling’s life and visiting two of the cafes where she wrote, we will make the 25-35 minute, steep climb up the extinct volcano, and, weather permitting, we can sit and absorb the amazing sunset over the city.
Slowly descending Arthur’s seat, we will head to the Royal Mile where we will find the Holyrood Palace grounds, the ‘birthplace’ of Scrooge and our last stop, the establishment where you can try the deep fried mars bar (recommended but not included).
