ALL ABOUT THIS EXPERIENCE

Dambuster Helicopter Sightseeing Flight

Learn about the World War II Dambusters by helicopter! Fly over their training ground located within the beautiful Peak District.

Flying Experience Days: With this great Dambusters themed helicopter flight you can soar spectacularly over one of England's most stunning National Parks, with an instructor providing an informative speech in your ear as you fly over a picturesque setting. The World War II Lancaster squadron used the Peak District as their training ground before the daring mission to Germany, and here you can witness a similar view of what the heroic pilots may have seen before the brave flight. Aside from the history, the beautiful panoramic views speak for themselves - and when combined with a guided tour of Derwent Valley and the surrounding areas, it makes for a wonderful flying day.

Once you have arrived and been welcomed to the centre your Dambusters experience will begin with a safety briefing and technique intro to your flight. Once briefed, you will take to the skies with the trained pilot and begin learning about the World War II Dambusters - whilst enjoying the beautiful views of the Peak District. You will fly over Chatsworth House, the Mam Tor rock formations, Lady Bower Reservoir and through Derwent Valley - before landing and appreciating both the experience and the photos.

The Dambuster Helicopter Sightseeing Flight makes a thoughtful experience gift for history buffs and aviation enthusiasts, perfect for Father's Day or celebrating a special occasion.

Dam Busters Sightseeing flight

Booking was very difficult - I needed to ring Adventure 001 to make an enquiry - they told me I needed to book in first although I'd given them a booking number. When I contacted someone re booking they told me I needed a date first which I'd sorted with the previous contact but it hadn't been recorded - and so on. Repeated phone calls were not answered. When we arrived at the site we had to repark our vehicle twice. We were invited into a room to log in and have a cup of coffee, (£1 per paper cup not appreciated). The web site offered front seat from £10. We were surprised to be charged £30. At that point we were told that the front seat was not available for my husband due to his weight. We should have known before we committed to the booking. The back seat did not have the headroom he needed to enjoy the flight. When we approached the heli we were told that photos at that stage were not allowed but that a picture of us would be taken. After the flight the pictures were available as poor prints at £10 per time. The theme of the flight being the Dam Busters we were disappointed to be told very little in that context and nothing that was not very generally known. The pilot was very friendly but his commentary unhelpful.
