Adults Seal Watching Experience in Essex

Climb aboard the 'SEAL SPOTTER' for a 1.5-hour wildlife watching cruise from Harwich to Hamford Water Nature Reserve in Essex.

This seal watching experience, in Essex, is a chance to spot some of the UK’s cutest marine wildlife. Take a 1.5-hour cruise through the Hamford Water Nature Reserve and get up close to its resident colony of curious seals!

Trips depart from Harwich and pass the port of Felixstowe on their way to the reserve. Aboard the aptly named ‘SEAL SPOTTER’, passengers will enjoy a bracing open water ride followed by a gentle cruise through the tidal creeks of Hamford Water. Here, both harbour and grey seals are regularly spotted resting on the mud banks. The local population has grown steadily since the 1980s, and you’ll have a great view from on deck. What’s more, all tours come with a ‘seal guarantee’ which means – in the unlikely event of no sightings – you’ll receive a voucher for another (free) trip!

Seal watching excursions are great fun for animal-lovers of all ages, and Experience Days vouchers make unique gifts for family and friends.

Great experience!

I lived in Harwich my whole life yet never seen the local seal family! My sister bought me this as a 50th gift and it was definitely one of those thrilling moments...the beautiful creatures lay chilling in the sun whilst we cruise by taking photograph after photograph. A great memory and lovely company - the skipper was very friendly and full of information (Harwich facts I probably should know!). Would highly recommend to locals and tourists.

Brilliant day out for your kids!

In an attempt to keep my daughter entertained during the school holidays I organised this Seal watching experience! Chris the Skipper was super friendly and even though it was chilly out, there were lots of blankets to go around. We sailed out to Oakley Creek, which is 40 minutes away from the dock and then we were surrounded by seals! My little girl loved using the binoculars to spot all the seal pups flopping into the water. Brilliant experience.
