Outdoor Experience Days: Learn to make fire like our ancient ancestors during this one-hour bushcraft session in Northumberland. Led by experienced survival instructors, it’s a must-do activity for lovers of the great outdoors!
Bushcraft is all about thriving in the natural environment, much like our hunter-gatherer ancestors did for thousands of years prior to the development of agriculture and more sedentary lifestyles. Although most people no longer depend on wilderness skills for survival, they’re still a great way to reconnect with nature and the past—and that’s exactly what this one-hour session aims to help you do! Under the supervision of an expert instructor, you’ll gain hands-on experience preparing, lighting and managing a fire using a variety of modern and traditional techniques. You’ll have a go at the popular friction method, and with some perseverance, discover what a rewarding task fire lighting can be!

Availability
The Bushcraft Session runs throughout the year midweek and weekends - subject to availability.
There is parking available onsite at £1 per hour.
Requirements
All survival equipment will be provided by the centre.
If you suffer from any medical conditions such as knee, hip or back problems, heart conditions, diabetes, epilepsy or any other illness that may be aggravated by the activities then you would need to alert the instructor upon booking.
Unfortunately this is not suitable for those who are pregnant.

Experience Duration: 1:00
Time Spent at Venue: 1:15
This full day bushcraft session will last approximately 1 hour but please expect to be at the venue for around 1 hour and 15 minutes.
Arrival time is at 9:45am to start at 10am.

What to Wear
Comfortable, warm, waterproof outdoor clothing including walking boots is recommended for the bushcraft session.
Weather
This experience can run in most weather conditions, however may be cancelled in extreme circumstances. Should a cancellation occur, the activity will be rescheduled for another date.
