COCOA BOX – BRIGHTON CHOCOLATE MAKING EXPERIENCE

Experience Days love to provide new and exciting things to do around the country, and one of our most recent additions is a chocolate-making experience in Brighton and London. Without drooling and sinking too far into a sweet chocolaty dream, we caught up with Lisa, the owner of Cocoa Box, to find out more … and tease our sweet tooth to chocolate heaven.

Please explain your journey as ‘The Cocoa Box’ so far.
I have always loved cakes and chocolate, so much so I trained as a chocolatier. I wanted to attend a class that was purely for cupcake decorating and I couldn’t find one. I eventually found one about three hours away from London and at around £350 for a days tuition. I decided that wasn’t going to be practical for a lot of people so I devised my own class. I condensed it into 2 hours and tried to give as much information and tips in the class as possible. The best part is when guests leave with their chocolate or cupcakes and you can tell they are really surprised at what they have achieved. A lot of people say they aren’t artistic but then realise how easy it can be to make something look or taste beautiful.

What has been the biggest or most memorable event you’ve provided?
From running the cocoa box I now write and film recipes for Tesco Real Food. I am also presenting at the BBC Good Food Show in London and Birmingham. I now also write for various websites, as well as writing and filming restaurant reviews for an Australian company.

Is there any ‘inside’ information you can give us?
I would say for our classes, the chocolate-making workshop is a great place to start – who doesn’t like chocolate?? The men also enjoy this class, too; sometimes they attend the cupcake classes rather reluctantly but always leave happy!

Do you have any exciting plans for the future you’d like to tell us about?
We are looking to keep providing a high quality friendly service. We hope to start our classes a bit further afield too, as they are just in London and Brighton at the moment. We are always looking to create and develop new and exciting classes.

Thank you Lisa, it all looks so delicious and we really look forward to our Experience Days customers getting involved and joining you for a brilliantly tasty chocolate making session!
