If you thought hovercrafting was just for Isle of Wight crossings – think again! During this premium hovercraft experience, in Cheshire, you’ll pilot your own personal machine. Learn to guide it round the waterlogged course, and compete to clock the fastest time!
The experience takes place at one of the region’s top extreme driving centres. On arrival, you’ll be greeted by an instructor, who’ll give a safety briefing, before introducing the group to the hovercraft. The English inventor, Christopher Cockerell, patented the first hovercraft, in 1952. Since then, they’ve been put to different uses around the world, though today’s small craft still operate on the same principles as Cockerell’s original. On the race track, your instructor will demonstrate how to start, stop, and negotiate bends. Gliding on a cushion of air, you’ll then complete several laps of the circuit, including a final time trial race. The group takes turns throughout, so you’ll receive further instruction between laps – crucial if you want to top that leaderboard!
