Learn Kitesurfing Northumberland - 2 days

Get certified to kitesurf solo with this 2 day kiteboarding introduction in Northumberland as you learn the skills, take the spills and feel the thrills at this Northumberland beach location.

Kitesurfing (also called kiteboarding) is a fairly young extreme sport that has really exploded onto the extreme scene since it was first practised in the 1990's. It is a bit like surfing, but you're able to fly. It's a little like parachuting, but you get to launch up and land. It's quite like wakeboarding, but the air you get is... well... more, and longer, and you don't need a speedboat. Yes, in a nutshell, it is a dream mash-up of everyone's favourite aspects of the best extreme sports out there! What more could a person want?

Well, maybe a superb 2 day course that gives a full introduction to this unbelievable sport, so much so that you will be well on your way to kiting solo, practising your skills, and hopefully getting up some nice speed and some really big air! These kitesurfing lessons take place in Northumberland (an easy drive from Edinburgh, Sunderland and Newcastle), and after 2 days should have you up on the board with all the safety knowledge and and kite skills you need to star taking your kiteboarding to the next level!Day 1 of this course is all about teaching the very important fundamentals of powerkite flying and kiteboarding. Once you have the safety covered, the fun will follow. You'll be getting a handle on setting up your kite and rig (including pre-flight checks), launching and landing, site assessment, in-water safety procedures, relaunching, and a wonderful technique known as 'bodydragging' (using the kite and the wind to pull you through the water). The final part of the day will include a deep-water self-rescue, as well as equipment pack-down.

Day 2: of the course should see you ready and very willing to get going on some board starts - and this is where things start to really kick off! The whole point of kitesurfing is to be up and moving on the board, ideally getting some pretty serious air - and the focus of day 2 is to get you at least up and moving (perhaps the serious air will come just a little later!) You will learn kiteboarding etiquette (which we advise you heed carefully, no one likes a rude rider!), and experience the unbeatable feeling of harnessing the power of wind and water together. Now you've got the foundation built, all you need is to get out there and get practising!
