Half Day Beekeeping Experience Bedford

With this half day Bedford beekeeping experience, you'll have the chance to get up close to honey bees, learn how they work, and how to properly handle a hive!

This unique Half Day Beekeeping Experience in Bedford is the perfect experience gift for aspiring beekeepers, or anyone who is interested in the intricate lives of these very important insects! This half-day session includes fascinating insights into how to keep bees, plus the opportunity to handle hives like a real beekeeper.

Your beekeeping experience begins when you meet your guide at his apiary in rural Bedfordshire. Martin is an expert beekeeper with over 15 years of experience, who loves sharing his knowledge and passion for beekeeping with others. After a short introduction and safety briefing, Martin will give you your suit, gloves and sting pen – so you’ll really look the part! During this half day experience, you’ll be dealing with honey bees. Despite being unique creatures, honey bees are often mistaken for other types of bees and wasps, so Martin will demonstrate how to properly identify them. Next, you’ll learn about the lives of bees and their individual roles within the colony – before heading off to see them in action! Take a look inside the hive, where the bees will be hard at work. Martin will show you how to remove a frame of bees from the hive, and what to look for on the frame. You’ll be absolutely fascinated by what you learn from your experience. Your informative day will end with tea, honey cake, and a jar of honey to take home with you.

This half day beekeeping experience in Bedfordshire is a unique gift for anyone who is interested in keeping bees or just wants to learn more about the fascinating lives of these unique creatures. Surprise the insect enthusiast in your life with an Experience Days voucher today!
