This fantastic full day experience gives you the opportunity to be a falconer for a day, getting up close and hands-on with a number of beautiful birds of prey. Nature and animal lovers will love this one; it's the perfect opportunity to learn more about these incredible creatures, and to see them close up.
This falconry experience begins with a tour of the Millets Farm Falconry Centre in Oxford. You'll get a full introduction to the birds you'll be working with and to falconry in general, and you'll learn about the different techniques there are for handling the birds safely. During this full day of falconry, you'll get the chance to meet owls, buzzards, hawks, falcons and even eagles, and you knowledgeable falconer instructors will give you plenty of fascinating information about how the birds are trained, groomed, fed and looked after. There will be plenty of opportunity to fly the birds, so you can fully appreciate their awesome power and precision, and you will of course have the opportunity to have them land on your wrist - carefully protected with a talon-proof leather glove, of course!
The day begins at 9am and ends at 3pm, and during the full day you are guaranteed to get a thorough introduction to the life of a falconer. Full day Falconry experiences run from Tuesdays-Sundays.
Please note that weekends tend to be busier, so experiences will need to be booked at least a couple of weeks in advance.

There would be a maximum of 6 participants taking part in this full day falconry experience.
Spectators may come along to the centre (from 10am onwards) but would need to pay the full general admission fee, on the day.
Please be aware that you will only be able to see the participant at certain points throughout the day.
This is an outdoor experience, so please dress according to the weather conditions, including comfortable, sturdy footwear.
If this Falconer for a Day Experience needs to be cancelled due to adverse weather conditions, the centre will re-schedule for a suitable date.
