ALL ABOUT THIS EXPERIENCE

Axe Throwing Lesson In The Highlands

Learn to sling axes safely and accurately during this great introduction to the lumberjack sport.

During the Middle Ages, throwing axes were a common weapon – capable of inflicting all sort of gruesome damage upon one’s enemies. Thankfully, today their use is confined to sport, and you needn’t be a battle-hardened warrior to join this fun-filled lesson.

Aviemore’s Inshriach estate provides an idyllic setting for the morning’s activity. Here, you’ll be met by your teacher, Tom, on his woodland throwing range. An experienced woodsman and self-taught axe slinger; Tom will demonstrate the proper technique, before stepping back for you to have a go. You’ll learn to throw two specially-designed axes – a tomahawk and a Wetterlings double bit – and will find there’s more to success than brute force alone. Axe throwing calls for a mastery of momentum and surprising levels of finesse, but – under Tom’s expert guidance – you’ll be hitting bullseyes in no time!

The Axe Throwing Lesson, in the Highlands, is a great introduction to an entertaining new target sport. An Experience Days voucher makes a unique gift for an outdoorsy loved one.
