RYA Level 1 Dinghy Sailing - Manchester

Explore the world of sailing with this incredible experience. The qualified instructor will be on hand to demonstrate and teach you the basics to sailing with both land and water based tuition before assessing you skills for the RYA level 1 certificate. With no prior experience required this two day intensive course will provide you with a complete overview of dinghy sailing, from understanding the boat and sail to mastering the all-important skills of handling. By the end of day two you will be traveling across the 42 acre lake in complete control and with the ability to change the speed and direction when you wish.

The RYA Dinghy Sailing will begin with a full safety briefing and introduction to your two-day course. The level 1 criteria will be discussed along with the basic skills and techniques of sailing with a land-based lesson before getting in the water to have go. You will learn an array of skills and manoeuvres over the two days and with the qualified instructor on hand to help, progress quickly through each stage, ready for the assessments to begin. By day two you will be able to sail across the lake in all directions, have the skills to launch and recover the dinghy and guide yourself through light winds under supervision. Your experience will draw to a close with a de-brief back at the centre, including a discussion of the techniques learnt and presentation of your personalised certificate.

Minimum Age: 16

If you are extraordinarily tall or short, or feel that your physique may impair your enjoyment of this activity in any way, please check with the centre when booking.

The RYA course takes approximately 2 full days to complete.

This experience is great for both individuals and groups alike.
Spectators welcome.

The experience is available on selected dates throughout the year, normally weekend availability.

Please bring a swimsuit, non-slip shoes you don't mind getting wet and a change of clothes. We recommend you wear a long sleeved top and full length trousers (No Jeans). All specialised equipment will be provided by the centre.

This experience can be affected by extreme weather conditions. If in doubt, please contact the centre on the day to make sure it is going ahead.
