RYA L1 Dinghy Sailing

Dinghy Sailing can be a social activity partaken in by a range of friends and family. The highly competitive sport can be taken as lightly or as seriously as the participant likes with regard to the activities, with racing at club and international level, or a high adrenaline buzz whilst sailing one of the modern high performance dinghies. The RYA Level 1 Dinghy Sailing is a  course designed for those that are serious about learning to Sail. This fantastic two day course will give you a thorough introduction to the sport, covering the knowledge required to get afloat under supervision. It will give you an understanding of boat handling techniques and background knowledge of sailing, whilst also providing a truly enjoyable and exciting experience.

Maidenhead

For novices, this RYA start sailing course will introduce you to the experience of sailing. Through out the two day course you will learn all about boat controls, boat handling and experience sailing out on the open water by yourself.  Your instructor will take you through the basics of Rigging, Sailing and Safety. Much of your time will be spent afloat learning basic maneuvers and by the end of the course you will be able to helm a dinghy under the supervision of an instructor. Logbook and handbooks are included in the cost of the course and upon completion an R.Y.A. certificate.

Age Restrictions: Min age at most locations is 16. 
(Under 18's must be accompanied by an adult).
At Nottingham Location Min age is 16 and Max weight is 114kg / 18 stone (or Max chest size 122cm / 48 inch).

This is a 2 day course, exact timings vary between locations.

Spectators are welcome at most centres, please check when booking.

The RYA Level 1 Course is run most weeks at our centres all year round.

Bring a Swimming costume, and non-slip shoes that you are prepared to get wet. We recommend that you wear a long sleeved top with full length trousers. NO JEANS.  A change of dry clothes is also recommended. All other specialist equipment including life-jacket is provided.

Sailing courses can be weather dependant and in extreme circumstances the course may be affected.  Please check with the center prior to arrival.
