Platinum Salmon Fishing Experience

Learn how to professionally catch salmon weighing up to 20lbs. Use the correct techniques to reap the rewards!

This experience is for the complete beginner offering you the chance, to turn your hand to the sport of salmon fishing. The art of fishing involves a number of different skills for you to be able to catch a marvelous salmon to take home for your dinner. Held in an exclusive and unique salmon pool in Rutland, it is a single pool of one acre that has been specially designed and constructed. Expect few fish to be under 15-20lbs. A wonderful opportunity to get involved in tradition, with guaranteed results!

Oakham

You will arrive at the centre and be greeted by the fishery owner and be taken to the pavilion for refreshments. After a brief introduction, you will be taken to the classroom where you will learn the ins and outs of salmon fishing. You will receive information about a salmon’s lifecycle will be outlined and how the centre rears its salmon in their specially constructed rearing unit. You will also receive an introduction to fly fishing, flies and practice in casting your fishing line with a brief break for lunch in the local hotel. The rest of the afternoon is to put what you have learnt into practice, and start fishing for salmon completing your experience you will be given a photo with your catch of the day, and a certificate to show off your accomplishments.

Maximum 7. Spectators are allowed to view fishing in the afternoon but not allowed by the water

Please ring for availability, but usually closed during the summer months and open throughout the colder seasons.

Please wear comfortable clothing that you do not mind getting wet and sensible footwear for walking round the lake.

This experience is only cancelled during extreme weather and if the lake freezes.
