Hovercrafting Half Day

Hovercrafting Experience Day, glide over surfaces in the Hovercraft, bounce around & test your skills in the Hovercraft on a purpose built course

A hovercraft, or air-cushion vehicle is an amphibious vehicle or craft, designed to travel over any sufficiently smooth surface supported by a cushion of slowly moving, high-pressure air, ejected downwards against the surface close below it. The first technically and commercially viable hovercraft was invented and patented by the English inventor Christopher Cockerell in 1955. Enough of that....Lets look at what you can do in these crazy machines. Slide, drift and glide sideways over water, mud, sand, grass, earth and anything else that gets in your way, weave in between posts as you navigate the course, trust us, it's not as easy as you think, imagine driving on ice, with less steerage and a safe cushion of air beneath you!!!

Sandwich

Following a safety briefing and a demonstration, you'll learn the basics of flying these exciting machines (under supervision) - and quickly learn that it's not as easy as the instructors make it look! You then move on to the BP challenge, a series of obstacles to practice your new found skills. Having mastered control of your craft, you will move to the Hover Cross track - flying the hovercraft over land and water around our track in a series of pursuit and relay races against other hovercrafts. You will stop for a quick drink refreshment. And to end the day every person completes 1 lap of the track to enter into the flying fish challenge with the fastest time of the year being presented with a free day to spend there again!!! You will also be presented with a certificate of your day.

Minimum Age:12

You experience will last around 2 hours, starting at 10.30am & 2.30pm.

Caters for up to 16 people in a group.

Hovercrafting in Kent is available on Saturdays only.

It is available nearly every weekend:

Wintery Months: 10am & 1pm
Summery Months: 10am, 1pm & 3pm

Please wear warm clothing and be prepared to perhaps get muddy and wet, its all in the fun of it. All equipment is provided at the centre.

This activity will only be affected in Extreme Weather conditions, if in doubt please phone the centre on the day
