Skydiving Experience Days: A Durham tandem skydive offers an unbeatable combination of
adrenaline pumping fun and picturesque countryside beauty, that
allows you to cross a BIG one off the bucket list - and in serious
style!
As one of the closest airfields to Newcastle, Sunderland,
Middlesbrough and Gateshead, Sky-High Skydiving is perfectly placed to
offer some truly incredible views of the North East - along with
some breathtaking thrills as you plummet back to earth at 120mph!
With 60 seconds of free fall and around 6-7 minutes of open
canopied parachuting back to earth, Durham skydiving is one of the
North East's best way to combine high octane thrills with a
completely unrivalled scenic tour!
Your tandem skydive in Durham will begin with a registration session at Shotton Airfield reception, where you can ask questions and sign the documents. Then, you'll begin the theory with a video brief and a practical demonstration on the mats - learning where to tuck your limbs and head throughout the jump. Once fully theorised, you'll don the safety equipment and make your way to the runway to be strapped to the instructor - before climbing into the back of the Turbine Cessna Grand Caravan - ready to fly up to a jump height of 15,000ft. Once up there, the first skydiving instructor will open the hatch and begin the first of the jumps! Sat between the legs of your instructor, you'll await your turn to shuffle up to the open hatch where you can dangle your legs, take a good look at the picturesque countryside below - and make the most extreme journey back to earth! On the instructor's call, you'll roll forward and begin 60 seconds of free fall, before the instructor deploys the parachute and you start around 6-7 minutes of parachuting back to ground level.

What to Wear
You should wear comfortable, casual clothes that suit the
weather for your tandem skydive in Durham - as you will be wearing
the safety equipment supplied by Sky-High Skydiving.
A jumpsuit is available upon request.
It is advisable to wrap up warm for your skydive in the cold
months, as both standing around at the airfield and the subzero
temperature at 15,000ft can be mightily chilly!
Weather
Tandem Skydiving in Durham is affected by the weather
conditions.
If the wind, rain or snow on the day is restricting the ability to
skydive - including the visibility of the ground from 15,000ft; you
may be required to wait around at Shotton Airfield until the
weather clears.
If it is not going to clear sufficiently on the day, you can
rearrange your skydive for a more convenient date.
